15 Significant Benefits of Water You Didn’t Know About

Everyone seems to have heard that water is a vital element and we need to drink a certain amount each day to maintain good health.
Scientists have confirmed that although some people need less than others, every organism on earth requires water in order to survive.
Water is essentially the stuff of life, and is important to enable living things to thrive. However, water is vital for many other reasons and holds a number of hidden benefits.
The following list contains fifteen reasons to make water a top priority in your life.

1. Replenish Fluids

Every time you sweat, breathe or use the bathroom you are expelling water from your body. A great deal is lost through normal evaporation that occurs even if we are not sweating.
We must replenish the supply in order for our bodies to continue to function effectively. On days when you are more active than usual, drink extra water to ensure that you are well hydrated.
Some people have problems consuming the recommended eight glasses of water a day as it is not the most exciting or tasty drink on offer.
Coffee, tea, sodas and energy drinks are far more appealing and many of us will opt for one of these over a plain old bottle of water. Even though they are fluids, carbonated and caffeinated drinks do not hydrate the body and actually have the opposite effect.
Along with alcohol, this type of beverage is known as a diuretic which increases your urge to pee. You are then expelling your body’s water supply along with your coffee/tea/diet coke which can quickly lead to dehydration and symptoms such as headaches, sluggishness and fatigue.

2. Good for Kidneys

Drinking fluids keeps your kidneys humming along so they can properly flush your system of unwanted items.
Kidney stones are caused by a number of factors including dehydration and a high intake of salt, sugar, alcohol, animal protein and fat. Around 80% of those diagnosed with kidney stones are male.
Kidney stones form in the bladder, kidneys or urethra and can cause extreme pain and discomfort. If they are small enough, they can pass naturally through the urethra and out of the body.
Their crystal formation results in pain and often a large amount of blood as they scratch the sides of the urethra on the way out.
Stones that are too large to be expelled from the body can block the urethra or kidneys and result in one of what some believe is the strongest physical pain that the body can endure.
These stones need to be broken up using laser treatment or removed with invasive surgery.
To avoid this, try to avoid excessive amounts of salt and fatty foods. Include plenty of fruit and vegetables in your diet and stick to vegetarian meals at least twice per week. Above all, drink plenty of water and never allow yourself to become dehydrated.  www.twitter.com/mannastores
